ReFresh Fayetteville Bench

fayetteville, arkansas

This bench was design and fabricated as a promotional donation to ReFresh Fayetteville, a non-profit organization founded by Matt Miller, a local artist. ReFresh Fayetteville was created to fund and enhance local design and art in Fayetteville with the main concept being to actually MAKE art, not just talk about it, study it, but simply bring an idea to life in an expedited way. Modus accepted the challenge from Matt and designed and fabricated this “sculpture for sitting” just before the official ReFresh launch party. The bench sat outside of local restaurant Greenhouse Grille for the event as a testimony to the organization’s mission.

After the launch party, modus chose a specific location on the bike trail in downtown Fayetteville for the piece to live and tell the story. It was then donated to the City of Fayetteville and installed a few months later.

The ReFresh Bench was designed as a billboard for art, and allows people to sit, contemplate, and even view other pieces of art. The hair (landscaping) of this piece was designed, installed, and continues to be maintained by Lee Porter.
