Tavolo Impasto

A modus studio client acquired a massive 5’ x 10’ x 3” thick vintage solid butcher block table top believed to have originated in Italy and date back to the turn of the century. This table top had a beautiful worn look from its undoubtedly storied past. Modus was asked to design and fabricate a steel base upon which this enormous 800 pound table top will rest. The design takes a nod from the client’s industrial-natured home and furnishings, incorporating forged steel cross members with a clean-lined leg structure.
