Klipsch Amphitheatre at Garvan Woodland Gardens

hot springs, arkansas

In an attempt to create a strong connection between the 210-acre Garvan Woodland Gardens and the existing amphitheatre, the improvement to the Klipsch Amphitheatre design creates an iconic landmark on the east end of the garden and invites visitors to explore the buildings as sculptures in the landscape. The amphitheater’s support buildings are simple, made of cor-ten steel and wood that blend with their natural surroundings and frame the entrance to an intimate garden beyond. In axis with the theater’s entrance and main path, the amphitheater’s welcome center is a tower that sparks the curiosity of the viewer from afar while providing a unique opportunity to experience the garden from above.
