Little Rock, Arkansas [2010 - in process] Natural Building Solutions (NBS) is a retailer of Green building products with locations in Rogers, Arkansas. This building was purchased by the owner of NBS with the intention of rehabilitating the existing structure using Green building products, ultimately providing a tenant space for an eco conscious business to occupy. The client approached modus studio shortly after the purchase of this building that, in the past, has been both a gas supply house and a flooring supplier. modus worked closely with NBS and a group of trusted consultants to plan for a LEED Gold project. The bulk of the renovation was concentrated outside dealing with storm water management and right-of-way improvements. The exterior surfaces were converted from a heat island prone material to reflective concrete and permeable grass pave. The building envelope of the business portion was updated in order to conform to energy standards required for LEED Gold achievement. The ribbon overhang on the west side of the building wraps around to the south facade and down to the south entrance creating a link between the both the west and south entrances. |
